Both can work. The choice depends on the target surface and audience. Avoid adding the keyword twice, front-loading a series number, or hiding the actual subject behind vague curiosity.

Design thumbnails to complete the promise

Thumbnails should add a fast visual reason to care. They do not need to restate every word in the title.

Use a simple test:

Use chapters and key moments correctly

YouTube chapters help viewers navigate a longer video. Manual chapters override automatic chapters for that video. The documented setup is:

  • Add at least three timestamps in ascending order.
  • Give each chapter a descriptive title.
  • Make each chapter at least 10 seconds long.

Read Shorts metrics in sequence:
